We had our first weekend without a soccer or baseball game this weekend and it was nice. I actually found some time at my craft desk and knocked out several weeks of Project Life. Now the trick will be photographing them and sharing here. Have a great Monday!

Project Life : Week 41

Project Life Weekly Share

Hello, I made it but barely. I have an event for work this morning, my hair is wet and makeup undone and should probably be leaving in 20 minutes so I'll keep this short.

This week is a result of me turning off the TV and spending some time at my craft desk. Awesome. I used my core kits, Martha Stewart Labels and Studio Calico kit (Roller Rink) to make this come together easily.
MMcNeill WK41a

A favorite from Roller Rink were the enamel dots. I love them seriously love them. The flair from Marcy Penner was perfect for this pocket. The Amy Tan small camera made me smile.

On Instagram several have asked about the dots on my camera. Yeah, that would be powdered sugar from the fried snicker at the fair.
MMcNeill WK41b

Since the fair was the highlight of the week it took on a life of its own. Inspired by Michelle Wooderson I used my new to me typewriter on a set of labels. I really like the cohesive journaling style to bring this side together and the red ties into the fair journaling card on the left of the layout.
MMcNeill WK41c

OK five minutes down which means I have 15 left to leave my house on time. Have a wonderful Friday and happy weekend! We have FOUR, yes FOUR games for Garrett this weekend and a school carnival tonight. He keeps our life interesting!

Project Life: Week 17

Project Life Weekly Share

I am finally sharing Week 17, otherwise known as the week of Week in the Life except I decided not to include it in my Project Life.

I have come to terms with the truth that in order to keep Project Life manageable I need to keep it simple. So I focused on simply completing the week. The beauty is if I decide to come back and include Week in the Life all I have to do is add a few page protectors. I love the flexibility here.

So, Week 17 takes us all the way to Travis' first week of life. Crazy that this week he turned 6 months old. It is going way too fast.

MMcNeill Oct2a

One of my favorite things to do is to mix the core kits together. It keeps it simple and adds just enough variety in the journaling cards.

MMcNeill Oct2b

MMcNeill Oct2c

In keeping with the theme of spending time on my priorities I finished Week 41 last night. If you follow me on Instagram you had a few sneaks already. I'm hoping to photograph it this afternoon and maybe even share tomorrow. Have a great Thursday!

Project Life: Week 31

Project Life Weekly Share

Hello Monday and hello friends. Today Becky shared the October Edition of the Creative Team Inspiration. Here is the complete view of Week 31 that was shared.

MMcNeill Oct1a

What I really loved about this week were all the stories captured and my ability to use the 3x4 spots for journaling instead of my usual Instagram pictures.

MMcNeill Oct1b

I was able to do this because I was able to use Design J for the first time. This is so great. Even my Instagrams had a place for a bigger story. Love this.

MMcNeill Oct1c

MMcNeill Oct1d

MMcNeill Oct1e

On the upper right hand corner the label / tag is a result of "oops" journaling on a card. I didn't want to waste the entire card so I just trimmed it to tie it into the corresponding card that told the bigger story.

A quick aside, I am so thankful that I captured the story of the reluctant shopper. In ten weeks this part of life with Owen has already changed. It's amazing how something that you think will always be is in fact fleeting.

MMcNeill Oct1f

I'll be back later this week with another layout and maybe even a real post with words. Hope you had a great Monday. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Birthday Project Life: A Giveaway to Celebrate

Print

I am so excited to be part of Becky's big celebration of Project Life's 3rd Birthday this week.  I believe deeply in her mission statement of "Cultivate a Good Life and Record It." I love Project Life for so many reasons. It provides a simplified approach to memory keeping, fulfills my creative needs and reminds me of the beauty in my everday life.

When I look back through my albums I see so much more of me than I ever have in my scrapbooking and that my friends is a very good thing. For the first time I am not only telling our story, I am in the story. Thank you, thank you, thank you Becky Higgins.

Now for the fun part, I get to give away two of my favorite Project Life Products. I have picked Design G & Design J to give away. All you have to do is leave a comment that shares something that made you laugh this week. I will close the comments on Friday at midnight CST.

Don't forget to include your email address so I can contact you and since these will be shipping from Amazon you need to have a U.S. mailing address to be eligible to win.

Project Real Life Giveaway Winner and a few pictures

Hello, I am so sorry to be late on posting the winner. The truth is several comments really touched me and I struggled between selecting a winner and picking a random number. In the end I decided I couldn't pick just one person so I went with a random number.

The winner is Leslie who said "I cultivate a good life by enjoying every minute of every day. In a flash it could all be gone, so we need to make sure to treasure every moment we have."

I couldn't agree more.

Thank you for sharing a little piece of yourself in the comments you were all responsible for making me smile.

One of the ways I cultivate a good life is by picking up my camera. Looking through the lens not only makes me come alive but it also provides my greatest source of gratitude because I see my blessings.

These pictures were taken after lunch with my parents at one of my favorite restaurants, Lockhart Smokehouse, in one of my favorite parts of Dallas, the Bishop Arts District.

Project Life: Week 25

I am beyond excited that I am using my Labor Day holiday tomorrow that I wasn't able to take well, on Labor Day weekend. Do you know what it means when all your children are in school and you are at home? For me, some time with my Project Life!! I am giddy.

Right now I have no idea where I am in my album. That's the honest truth. I've been printing pictures but I may have a few weeks to still print. Not sure. What I do know is that I took pictures of Week 25 over a month ago and am just now sharing them! I think I have a few other weeks that were photographed but never shared. Maybe they will make an appearance on the blog next week. No promises though because I hate breaking promises.

Hello friend, I have a treat for you.....

Do you know what today is? September 17th. If you aren't in the tax world this day likely has no meaning to you but I'm celebrating today. Today I say goodbye to another busy season, weeks of long hours and the weight of a deadline.

I would love to share some of my happy with you so today, September 17th, I'm giving away a seat in Becky Higgins 12-week workshop, Project Real Life, at Big Picture Classes.

projectreallife1

I'm signed up for the class and cannot wait to spend twelve weeks, starting October 4th, with Becky. This last year I've had the joy of working with Becky during an exciting time for her business and am impressed with her thoughtfulness in everything she does. I'm excited for the opportunity to see more of "behind the scenes" Becky.

Here is a little more information from Big Picture Classes:

Class Description

Come join Becky Higgins for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend some time with her during the last quarter of 2012. As Becky goes about preparing for the holidays, organizing around her home and documenting her family's story along the way, she'll be sharing ideas to inspire you, tips to motivate you, and real-life suggestions on how to cultivate the life you want.

Whether you're a long-time Project Lifer or you're just now hearing about Project Life, you will love learning about the guilt-free philosophy behind this system of memory-keeping. While Becky will give you plenty to think about and do during the 12 weeks of this workshop, she firmly believes that there isn't a person that exists who "does it all" — and it should be the last thing that we expect from ourselves.

Becky's class includes:

● An exclusively-designed set of Project Life cards (3" x 4" and 4" x 6") that will not be available anywhere else!
● Access to a pre-classroom with a presentation from Becky upon registration for class
● Colorful instructional handouts with step-by-step instructions for each lesson/project
● Voice messages, slideshows and videos throughout class
● Three live chats with Becky
● Welcome notes from Becky in the classroom
● Reminder emails when the classroom is updated with new materials
● Message board to share your thoughts with your classmates
● Private posting gallery to share your work and view the work of your classmates
● Supply list with live links to product resources

Becky has also talked about what to expect here and here.

How do you become the lucky winner? Leave a comment here telling me the number one thing you do to cultivate a good life by midnight Thursday. Don't forget to include your email or I won't be able to give you your fabulous prize!

If you aren't the lucky winner keep in mind registration closes October 10th for the workshop.
Hope you are having a great day and happy September 17th!!

The speech bubble in the upper right hand corner is part of a post it type pad I found at The Container Store.

Not too many words today because I should be getting in the car to head to work in 15 minutes and yeah my hair is still not dry and I'm waiting for Travis to wake up so I can feed him. If you have any questions just let me know & I'll come back later.

Also, if you enjoyed my series of pictures & words on maternity leave you may want to stop by Becky's blog today to see some of my favorites from that series and learn a little more about why I love them.

Have a great Wednesday we are half way to the weekend! Wooohoooo!!
