This & That

Have you seen this in the bookstores?

Not only is it my favorite book maybe of all time but it is in color & hardcover. Yesterday Garrett & I went to Barnes & Noble to spend a gift card he had received from our dear neighbors and my heart went pitter patter when I saw Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

I own the paperback version but to see it in this new version was a beautiful thing because yesterday I had an Alexander morning. I'm usually pretty good at keeping everything together & moving but I think my normal chaotic frenzy with a layer of the baby has taken over my brain & slowed my reaction time led to an Alexander morning.

All was well by the end of the day & I am resolved to start keeping lists. I never really needed them before but I think that my increased age in this pregnancy is going to push me over the edge.

And something that I cannot blame the pregnancy for but perhaps shows my aging is the fact that I never posted the winner from my virtual food drive benefiting the North Texas Food Bank. Sincere apologies.

In case you missed our drive you can read about it here, and here. In a matter of a few short weeks you guys raised $647 which translated into 2,588 meals for North Texas. Our goal was to raise enough to provide 1,000 meals and I am forever grateful for your generosity.

Without anymore delay here is the random winner of a gift certificate for three of Ella's Publications. Kath please email me at withoutfilters(at)gmail(dot)com to claim your prize.

Speaking of Ella, have you seen the giveaway post for a copy of Vintage Hip Christmas Crafts? If not, make sure you visit here and enter to win. Also, don't forget about the coupon for 25% off Vintage Hip Chrismas Crafts. The code is CRAFTY09 and it is valid through Sunday, 12/13.

My lunch break is just about over & really need to finish some work so I can turn my attention to Garrett's birthday party tomorrow!!

I have been obsessed with RSVPs the last few days. This is our first year to have the party outside of our home & everytime the venue calls to get a final count I stress about not having enough. I'm a girl who likes to be overly prepared and in control.

We are in good shape today though, of 26 invites I only have 7 outstanding RSVPs. Since I can wait no more I'll be making 5 extra goody bags tonight. May not need them but I'll sleep better knowing I have them!!

Wish me luck in my cake making endeavours this evening. This will be the second time I make Garrett's birthday cake but the first time I make it without a pattern. He is having a Ben 10 party and I'm going to attempt to make a cake that looks like an Omnitrix. I have no Plan B so send all the positive baking & decorating vibes my way if you can!

Garrett is so excited about his party tomorrow & has had a wonderful birthday thus far. Pictures to come soon but I think he summed it up as he was eating birthday cake on Wednesday and said "This is the best day ever."

Have a beautiful weekend!

Monica, you are very ambitious with that cake! Garrett is a lucky little guy. And, I hate to tell you, your life with lists is just beginning :)

Wish you lots of luck on the cake and party. I know it will be great. I think it is medical fact that pregnancy kills memory brain cells and you don't get them back. You may have just graduated to being a list maker for life, but the trade off is SOOOOO worth it!!
