I will be sending this guy to Kindergarten. Its hitting me hard. To say its making me crazy is at best an understatement.
He's been in Montessori since he was 18months so this shouldn't be a big deal. But for some reason that just didn't feel real. Kinder is big time. This is the beginning of letting go & my heart just isn't ready.
Our summer was busier than I had anticipated so I want to savor every lazy moment of this last week. He has already requested a morning trip to the zoo & a movie playdate with his good buddy. Other than that I'm going to encourage as many PJ days as possible since the option will no longer be ours come Monday.
In the meantime, I'm trying to think of something special for the night before or the morning of the first day. I would love for you to share your ideas in the comments.
The scrapcave is overwhelming me these days with the addition of fabric so I'll pull together a small flat rate box of scrapping goodies for one lucky commenter. I'll close the comments on Wednesday night & post pictures of the goodies after I pull together the box today.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Ours was fantastic but exhausting!

Awww Mon, I remember feeling the same way about my oldest, and 100 times worse with my youngest. On the flip side, in one week I get a room full of little people like yours in my classroom! Sent by all the other teary mom's trusting me with their priceless treasures. I've been learning their names, cleaning cubbies, making folders and getting all around ready to love them up and help them start their school adventure. I cry with every Mom, I remember, it was not that long ago I was sending my lil guy off.
Be strong!
hugs, Nel
He's such a cutie, he'll LOVE his time meeting new friends and exploring new ideas. The adventure begins! For both you and him. I always had to look at is as an adventure or I'd have been a big puddle. Mind you, by the fourth I was anxious to get him busy during the day! Enjoy your week :)
IT WILL BE OK! This is what you have been prepping him for the last 5 years! The weekend before Kayla started we went to a restraunt for Mommy & Me dessert and just talked about how fun it would be at school. After drop off that first morning, a group of moms met for a Kiss & Cry breakfast so we weren't alone!!

Oh! And I am pretty sure there is a book "The Night Before Kindergarten"
Ohhhh, I remember the first day of kindergarten! For us,this year was the first day of high school!
But back then, we did pancakes and photos in morning and sno-balls in the afternoon. Just a little something to make the day special. Now, she is waaaayyy too cool for all of that business. One quick photo and that was it!Enjoy it while they let you!
What a cutie! I am sending vibes. For us, it is the last year of high school. I feel like my son is four years old, but somehow he is driving, has a girlfriend and will be heading off to college this time next year. Sigh! Enjoy all the moments ahead...
My oldest will be starting 5th grade this year and boy wonder #2....1st. For the past 5 years we have had chocolate chip pancakes the morning of the first day (got to have a good breakfast!). AND....homemade milk and cookies awaits them when they get off the bus....so we can talk about our day, teachers, new friends....It's been our tradition! This is a great time for you to start YOUR new tradition!
wow! he has grown and is a very handsome young man..how are the little girls going to pay attention in class??? :)
i can't wait to experience that in 5 years, so currently no tradtions to share. :)
Girl I feel your pain- it is so hard to send them off. Good luck!
I remember Kindergarten like it was yesterday. Such precious memories made in those first years of school.
My boys go to Kinder next year :(
Hope Garrett loves it!
