Two Thousand Nine Hundred Twenty Five Days

of marriage.

Last Friday Mitch & I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary. I had high hopes of putting up a post that day & creating a layout but the boys & the demands they put on my time quickly dashed those hopes.

In lieu of tangible gifts we gave the gift of undivided attention this year, which I was desperate for. My mom came & watched the boys and we enjoyed an adult dinner out at our favorite local Italian restaurant complete with conversation, wine & dessert. I was in heaven.

It felt so good to get dressed up, by my current standards, for my guy.

Before I came to terms that my layout wasn't going to happen, I spent my day reading through old love letters I had sent Mitch while we were dating. It was so very cool to peek back at how our decade together began.

At dinner I joked with Mitch that looking back I'm shocked I didn't scare him away. To say I was smitten is an understatement. I was head over heels and not very shy about it!

At dinner we talked about our past, our new family & the future dreams we share. The cool thing is I am still totally smitten with this guy.

The last two thousand nine hundred twenty five days of being his wife have made me a better person.

In retrospect, one of my favorite things about my husband is that he calls me out when it's needed. I may not always enjoy it when it's happening but I definitely appreciate it looking back at how I've grown over the years. We have always stood on equal ground & I think is why our marriage, while not always perfect, works for us.

We are truly partners in parenthood, friendship & marriage.

This morning as I turned to channel 206 to watch the USA fight for it's place in the next round of the World Cup I had to laugh. It was only 8 years ago my new husband was explaining this sporting event to me on our honeymoon while I listened politely. And here I was with Mitch at work intently watching the game alone.

I love these sign posts that two lives have truly become one.

So glad you had a good day. It is important to stop and think about the things that you love about each other. It can be easy to take it for granted with all that life has going on all the time! We have to be intentional with the things that matter!!
It was great getting to see you!!!!
