At His Feet

Shot taken at my In-Laws in Port O'Conner October 2007.

I'm usually an early riser which means I don't need an alarm and never sleep past 7AM but can be known to be up as early as 4:30 ready to start my day.

You would think that with this stolen time I am getting oodles done but when I am unfocused it is usually just spent checking in on the blogging world. This in and of itself is not a bad thing, I love this new world of mine.

However, lately I've had lots to do and seem to not be accomplishing any of it. I feel its due to a lack of primary focus. So, when I read Kyla's post this morning I thought yes, yes this is how I need to start my day.

The first person I need to visit everyday is the Lord. He has given me the blessing of naturally rising early because he is asking me to sit at his feet and know him.

This morning I started a bible study that has been on my bookshelf for a good number of years. This is a twelve week study but I will be using it for my next 11 mornings. What compelled me to pull "Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World" was the tag line finding intimacy with God in the busyness of life. Who can't relate to that?

This morning I reflected on the story of Martha & Mary from Luke 10: 38-42

As they continued their journey he entered a village where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him. She had a sister named Mary who sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak.

Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving? Tell her to help me."

The Lord said to her in reply, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her."

There is only one thing the Lord is asking of us, it is to know him.

I have done this study and really loved it. There are some things that hit you between the eyes, but in a good way. The key is something you have already found out - you have to make a little time.....yet, it is a guaranteed investment.

Monica, I just bought this book not too long ago. Maybe we can compare notes as we read it...
