Exploring

Continually exploring my world around me and observing what I am drawn to I am able to gain insight into my core. It is truly so hard to see ourselves due to preconceived notions and perceptions we have accumulated over the years.

While discovering a new independent bookstore in the Dallas area with my husband last night I found this

"Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself." Unknown

and this

"This is your world. Shape it or someone else will." Gart Lew

Both illustrate that this life of ours is not passive. Each of us has the power to make our life what it is and we should sincerely take responsibility for that. Which leads me to this

"happiness is a journey, not a destination.
for a long time it seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life.
but there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid.
at last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.
this perspective has helped me to see there is no way to happiness.
happiness is the way.
so treasure every moment you have and remember that time waits for no one."
souza

and this

"live with intention
walk to the edge
listen hard
practice wellness
play with abandon
laugh
choose with no regret
continue to learn
appreciate your friends
do what you love
live as if this is all there is"
Mary Anne Radmacher

These quotes spoke to me and are amazing themselves but to achieve the full effect please visit Quotable Cards. This is a company I have adored for many years now in stores and have just now found them on the internet. They way they use type is simply inspiring and I just saw there are CANVASES!!!! Oh my goodness how exciting.

Since the Fall Television has started I have spent way to much time participating in mindless watching but I can not help myself. I just love to watch television. Sometimes it is so nice to get lost in someone else's triumphs and woes for just an hour. I am known to be found bawling by myself at a story line that moves me. I think crying is good for the soul and that much better when its not real grief.

My two new additions to the TIVO lineup are Life on Mars because I'm a sucker for anything to do with time travel thanks to my impressionable years being spent watching Quantum Leap and Lipstick Jungle because it is just a fun girly show.

While I do love my television I think it stifles my creativity. There was an uncanny parallel between the start of the Fall Season and my lack of creation. So, I have been immersing myself in music this week.

I am enjoying Colbie Caillat's album Coco and simply am drawn to Older. I adore Jason Mraz's album We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. I was able to get the one with bonus tracks at I Tunes and love the bonus tracks. I am in love with

and with

and lastly

As you may have guessed from my previous post I am exploring the world of jewelry making thanks to the invitation of a dear friend. You have already seen the knotted pearl necklace. Something interesting I heard while making this is that the imperfections in the items we create allow a place for our spirit to leave the object we have created. Sorry I can't give you much more detail or background. The teacher was reading a quote from the author of a bead book and that is what stayed with me. I will have to track down the source. I was just intrigued with that perspective.

I have also tried my hand at wire necklaces. Really, really like these two.

I believe exploring this other craft helped my find my scrapping mojo again. This was a ton of fun and I believe my mother has found her craft but this is not mine. I came back home after the knotting class and played with my paper and was in heaven.

Which affirmed what I am discovering about myself. I love scrapbooking because I am immersed in my memories and telling my stories. I can't wait to play with beads again but for me it is better enjoyed with friends.

This post has been in draft all week and it is so nice to release it.
Enjoy!

I really think that watching TV hinders my creativity at times, too. I've been trying to turn it off more during the week so that I can get stuff done!

P.S.
Kyla from The Kreative Life nominated you to win a prize in a giveaway that I am doing. Maybe you'd like to come and nominate someone, too?!

Love all these quotes! And those necklaces are just beautimous! WOW! Looks time consuming to me, though . . . I don't think I'm that patient. ;)
