Hello Story Giveaway

Hello there! I know its been awhile since I've posted and I have lots of thoughts on that but today I want to share something fun that I am excited about.

I've been waiting for the calendar to turn to July because I've registered for Ali Edwards new class, Hello Story, at Big Picture Classes and it starts July 8th! I haven't made a traditional layout in a really long time and am looking forward to this class nudging me in that direction a little more. Also, Ali always delivers amazing content.

But what is even greater is that my friends at Big Picture Classes are letting me giveaway a seat in Ali's class! All you have to do to enter is leave a comment telling me a story that you have not told yet but want to. Comments will be open until Sunday, June 30th and I will pick a winner on Monday morning.

Hello Story is 12 weeks of creativestorytelling techniques with Ali Edwards. The class runs from July 8th to September 29th 2013.

What's your story? This summer, say hello to a dozen fun strategies for sharing more of your words, and more of yourself, on your scrapbook pages.

In her new 12-week workshop, Hello Story, Ali Edwards will introduce you to 12 storytelling techniques—never-before-seen in her prior journaling workshops—that will bring creativity and clarity to both your writing and your page designs. Every week, you get to sit over Ali's shoulder and watch her transform her story ideas into timeless, authentic, story-rich scrapbook pages.

Through dozens of in-depth videos that cover storytelling and design ideas as well as 36+ exclusive layout examples from Ali (12" x 12" and 8 1/2" x 11" layouts, plus Project Life inserts), Hello Story will inspire you to take action and give you the tools you need to tell your own stories with confidence.

Are you ready to discover (or rediscover) the fun that comes from the interplay of design and words? By the end of class, you may even enjoy the writing process just as much as you love taking photos and playing with paint and paper!

You can read the rest of description here and here is a 12 minute video from Stacy Julian herself and a snippet of Ali's class video.

I'd like to tell the story of my husband and I when we were first dating.

In 2004, my oldest son was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer. His recovery took a good 3 years of regular treatments, surgeries, multiple hospital visits and doctors. The catch...it just so happened to be his senior year of high school. His girlfriend stuck with him and they were able to attend every dance, prom, graduation and beyond, however, I have never scrapbooked that time in our lives.

I'd like to tell the stories of the vacations my husband and I took before we had kids.

Lots of yet-untold stories to choose from... but here's one: when my middle daughter was three, she was obsessed with wearing swimming suits. I'm sure I have pictures of her in a swimming suit taken in all 12 months of that year--and she certainly didn't go swimming every month (in fact, very few)! She's 10 now and still has very-specific clothing obsessions. We'll have to wash the same pair of pants or shorts or t-shirt two or three times a week for two months until she moves on to something else. Personality!

I'd love to win a spot in this class! Thanks for the chance, Monica.

My Dad passed away from cancer in March. I've only been able to put pictures in the pockets for that week in Project Life. I'd love to put the story of that week in to words somehow but wonder if I'll ever be able to. Thanks for the opportunity to win a seat in Ali's class.

My grandmother passed away in April and I inherited all the photos from her house. There were stacks of prints of her and my grandfather (who died before I was born) when they were young. I'd love to tell the story of the early days of their marriage in the late 40s/early 50s! Thanks for the chance to win!

My maternity leave started 2weeks before 9-11 happened, and I was a flight attendant for United Airlines at the time. My mom tells my son that he saved my life...could very well be true. Thanks for the chance--enjoy the class!

Hi Monica, gosh so man stories to tell, I think the one I would like to tell the most is the one when the toothfair was out of cash and had to sneak money out of the piggyback in order to pay said child $ for his last tooth

My grandmother had Alzheimer's. Her story is one I have been wanting to tell. I want to document all the great women in our family - my mom, my grandmothers and me.

But the urgent story I want to tell is that of my father. He has been diagnosed with end stage lung cancer and I want to write HIS story down.

I want to tell more stories of my childhood. I'm afraid the longer I wait, the harder it will to remember.

The other day I saw a bumper sticker that said "Labrador Mom." Now, while I love my two cats and they are the only "kids" my husband I will ever have together, it prompted me to think about being a "real mom." I'm usually one of those who takes pride in being the whole sum of the parts of who I am - I'm not just a mother, not just a wife. But it struck me that it's a really awesome thing to be a mom. We're getting ready for high school & in these parts that means figuring out where to go to (our public school system is more than a little broken). So, it just struck home. I'd really like to buckle down and get that "story" on paper. I know Ali can bring more of these kinds of stories out of me and can't wait for her class. Thanks for the chance to win a spot.

There are so many things that I would like tell but I haven't yet. I think that the first one would simply be the story of my daughter's birth. She arrived 6 weeks before the due date, so there were so many feelings: we were scared that she wouldn't be OK, we were happy to meet her, we didn't feel completely ready to become parents 6 weeks before (only psychological...), we felt so many things when she arrived. And yet, I didn't manage to tell her all of this. Thanks a lot for the chance to win.

I think I need to tell the story of my first marriage and divorce. I've avoided it for so long because it was painful, but it is part of who I am. I haven't been able to write that one yet. Thanks for the great giveaway!

I would love to tell the story of my memories of my grandma. She passed away 2 years ago. I have two pictures - one of the first time we met (her holding me as a newborn baby) and one of the last time I saw her. She said many beautiful things to me in the months leading up to her death and I also have many happy memories from childhood.

Thanks for offering the great prize! I would like to tell the story of my parents. I lost my dad 10 years ago and my mom 8 years ago and while my kids have great memories with each of them, I would like to get other stories told for my kids to know more about their grandparents.
