The Countdown Begins

Today marks the first day of the last week of the second trimester with little bean. I cannot believe in a weeks time we enter the third trimester, the home stretch.

I find myself breathing a bit easier knowing we are entering a zone where it is certainly not time for him to come, but if he did, medicine could give him a fighting chance. Don't get me wrong, I plan on cooking him the whole time. But after a scare in December, I'm going to count crossing this threshold and all that this means a blessing.

He has the hiccups all the time & I smile at the rhythmic pulse he sends through my belly. I noticed this last week when he hears Mitch's voice he tends to get all riled up & starts doing gymnastics.

In the first & some of the second trimester I was extremely guarded with my excitement about little bean. I suppose that is a natural reaction to a three and a half year journey with several ups & some devastating downs.

Inspired by an exercise in Stacy Julian's new book, UR2 Cr8ive: 68 Playful Ways to Unleash Your Creativity, I created the following layout a few weeks ago to capture where I was in the later part of the second trimester. If you'd like to read more about my inspiration you can see my entire article here.

Journaling: As I go through the day I find it hard to believe we are here. In 4 months my dream will come true & we will add to our family. Soon the quiet of the night will be filled with late night feedings, sweet snuggles, & watching a new son sleep. When this realization hits me, I feel as though I need someone to pinch me.

A week ago I posted on Facebook "In my inbox today: You're 26 weeks pregnant - 98 days to go. YIKES when you put it that way I'm so not ready!!"

I wrote this thinking of the "nursery" that still has all the guest room furniture in it with all the Christmas bins which are on hold to go to the attic until we can bring that baby stuff down. At this point in time, if I remember correctly, Garrett's nursery was pretty much ready to go. When I think of our physical home, yes we are not ready for little bean to make his entrance.

But as my best friend quickly reminded me " You are too ready!! You have been ready......" Yes, our hearts are definitely ready. I have so much more love to give. Soon I will have another little boy in my arms to shower with my kisses, my love, my attention.

That's an awesome belly pic!! I know what you mean about not being ready. I don't think we had the crib up for the twins until after they were home. Hope you guys are doing well!
