We were lucky enough to have Diane, a good friend from Kentucky, as a guest in our home this weekend. We did a bit of melting in the heat, a bit of shopping, a bit of movie watching, a bit of swimming and alot of laughing.
She is one of my favorite people in the whole wide world & I'm missing her dearly today. There are some people in this world that I'm drawn to from the first conversation and she is one of them. During our time in Kentucky she cared for my home, my animals, my son & kept watch over my heart.
When Garrett & I were talking about Ms. Diane visiting he renamed her for the second time in his little life. The entire weekend Diane, formerly known as Ms. Dinuh, was dubbed Ms. Dianeuh.
Before she came he had all kinds of questions about her so I showed him a picture of them together. He told me "Mama, I don't remember that day." So, I expected him to take awhile to warm up to her. Boy was I surprised. Within a half an hour of being together he was reaching for her hand as we walked into a restaurant.
It was as if their hearts recognized each other. I like to think somewhere inside him he remembered her rocking & singing him to sleep.
He was completely taken with her the entire weekend & had a bit of a hard time understanding she was also here to visit me. I love that I have a new picture of them for our piano.
I must say I think this is my favorite because it catches the essence of them.
Thank goodness for tripods! Without it I wouldn't have been able to jump in with them.
While I'm sad she's gone I'm so glad she came.
