Five Questions

Back in January, my good friend Lee sent me these 5 questions as a meme. Here are the rules if you want to participate:

1. Leave me a comment saying: "Interview me"
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. (I get to pick the questions).
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

So, here are my 5 questions as posed by Lee. She did a great job of challenging me & I did my best to answer without filters.

1. Your son, Garrett, is the centre of your universe, how do you wish the world would change for him? How do envision his world when he’s your age?

At this point in our Nation's History I am most disappointed in the lack of personal accountability. I am extremely frustrated with the prevalent practice of pointing fingers.

I understand that mistakes are made & poor judgement is used but what I do not understand is the lack of connection made between the choices we make as individuals and the corresponding & resulting outcomes.

My wish for Garrett is that as parents we set a STRONG example of personal accountability for our children & for each other. Right now, we have the future of the world in our hands. The choices we make in our parenting will influence, shape, mold the next generation of leaders. My wish is that more parents would own this & give the responsiblity associated with parenting the respect it deserves.

It is a scary time in our world. There is so much unknown. With that, I envision his little piece of the world at the age of 31 to be rooted in family, both the one he has been given & the one he will create; to be rooted in faith; to be rooted in compassion; to be rooted in love; to be rooted in joy.

2. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? In 20?

My biggest dream in life is to share my life with Mitch. I want to be that old wrinkled still crazy for each other couple that you see in the center of a big family portrait.

Marriage is hard. I don't think people say that outloud enough. I know that I drive my dear husband crazy at times & there are moments we both feel we keep hitting our head against the same wall BUT we are in this together. Our moments of joy, love & laughter far outweigh the heartache. To me, that is a win. If we didn't have the heartache sprinkled in then we wouldn't be challenging each other to grow.

When I think of myself in 10 or 20 years the only thing I am sure of is that I want Mitch by my side.

3. There’s a big wide world out there, what place calls to you? Is there somewhere you want to go for two weeks if money, time and childcare were no issue?

Ireland has always intrigued me. I have no rational reason to want to go there; I just do.

4. You are so incredibly talented what, if anything, would you like to do better?

First, this compliment made me blush & gave me warm fuzzies inside; thank you Lee.

I am a newbie, I've just had a creative awakening in the last year and a half so I want to do everything better! However, one of my pursuits is finding what I bring to the table of the crafting world. I believe this can only happen when I truly allow myself to just be. Long story short, I want to be better at being authentic. I think this is when I'm at my best.

5. Growing up did you ever get into trouble? What was the worst thing you ever did? Did you get caught?

Ha! I was always in trouble! The worst thing....

Instead of an incident I think of an overall pattern. Looking back at myself I see a frustrated girl full of righteous indignation who was frequently mouthing off to her parents. With the perspective of a parent, I know I must have broken my parents hearts a million times over with that attitude & I think that is probably the worst thing I ever did.
