Slice of Life 3/1

As I stand at the sink washing and cutting 64oz of strawberries I chuckle at my conversation with the check out lady at Central Market this morning.

She asks "What are you going to do with all the strawberries?"

Drawing her attention to the little boy sitting in my grocery cart wearing a Spiderman hooded sweatshirt, jogging pants & Batman socks I respond "They are for him." I've made him promise to not take off his hood because I need to hide the hair we forgot to comb this morning in our hurry to get to the grocery before the masses joined us.

Usually he stays at home with Daddy when I grocery shop but today Daddy is sick and I have transformed into Wonder Woman.

She tries to hide her surprise "Oh! With so many stawberries I thought you would be making a cake or smoothies."

"No, they are just for him. It's the only fruit he really eats so I push it." I was thrilled that they were one of the foodie finds today and I was able to get 32oz for three dollars. At Walmart this morning they were 16oz for three dollars and they didn't look as fresh.

She agrees "Definitely work with what you have. But he really doesn't eat other fruit?"

"Nope. He'll eat a few grapes but he twists up his face as if he's in pain." I shrug. She laughs.

For someone who doesn't consider herself a writer YOU NAILED IT! What a perfect Slice of Life Story. It truly captures the essence of just a few precious moments of your life. Nice job. Can't wait to read more from you this month.

LOVE IT! I'm thinking of doing the slice of life thing, too. But NOW I'm intimidated :)

sounds familiar---John is a blueberry monster. He used to eat grapes but now blueberries are SO much better. Too bad they are SO freaking expensive?!
